Australian Red Cross Blood Service - www.donateblood.com.au

If you, or one of your loved ones, have ever needed blood, you already know how important it is. Many people today would not be alive if it wasn't for Australia's generous and voluntary, unpaid blood donors who give blood each week to help those in need. It's one of those things that we just expect to be there for us, but only a very small proportion (around 3%) of people actually give blood. This is one of the reasons we say it takes someone special to give blood. Yet sooner or later, one in three of us will need it. People who give blood are united by their generosity and the desire to give something back to the community.

It truly does take someone special to give blood.

LifeGift - http://www.organdonor.com.au/

As part of the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, LifeGift works with hospitals across NSW, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania to coordinate the donation of organs for transplantation.

One organ donor can save and improve the quality of life of up to 10 other people. Currently each year Australia has approximately 200 organ donors - this number could be doubled.

A simple discussion with your partner, family and friends, as well as registering on the Australia Organ Donor Registry, will ensure your decision counts!

Australia has one of the lowest organ donation rates in the developed world. An estimated 100 people die each year while waiting for an organ transplant due to the shortage of organ and tissue donors. You can help save lives by registering your consent to become an organ and tissue donor. Remember to tell your partner, family or friends about your decision.
